Buttonholes for the men of your Wedding Day. You may be surprise but the tradition of wearing buttonholes originates from ancient Greece. Today buttonholes for grooms, groomsmen and the best man can come in many styles, colour palettes and themes.

Dating back to ancient Greek times male members of the Wedding party would usually wear a small bunch of flowers mixed with fragrant herbs. Pinned close to their heart it was thought to ward off evil spirits. It was believed these evil spirits would cause the groom to turn his heart against the bride.
During Medieval times in England Knights would wear their lady's colours upon their chest to show their commitment and everlasting love.
Now days it is common for only the immediate members of the Bridal party to wear flowers. The little flowers are worn in the lapel of men's suits at a Wedding and these can be called Buttonholes, Buttonieres. Buttonholes are usually worn by the Groom, Bestman, Ushers, Father of the Bride, Father of the Groom and sometimes the page boys.
We recommend that these buttonhole flowers follow the colour palette of your Wedding and the Grooms buttonhole has flowers that are in the Bridal bouquet. These buttonholes can be a small cluster of little flowers or some men prefer a single rose. At Johanna Pedrick Flowers I wire my buttonholes so that they look great for your whole Wedding day, you don't want a limp flower on your Grooms lapel.
To wear these buttonholes the flower head is pointing upwards and they are pinned onto the left lapel. All buttonholes are labelled in a box and delivered on the morning of the Wedding. Quite often we will see our Grooms as well on the morning of the Wedding so are able to assist pinning onto their suits for them.
